Forty-Year-Old Concrete
Parkwood grew through the 1970s and 80s, and a lot of its concrete has been working ever since. Driveways, porches and paths poured when the suburb was new are now well past the age where patching keeps up.

Signs It Is Time
Walk your own driveway and check it against this list:

- A surface worn smooth and slippery underfoot
Two or more of those and a re-pour is usually cheaper over ten years than another round of patching. One visit and we can tell you which side of the line your concrete sits on.
How A Re-Pour Runs
The old surface is cut and removed, the base is rebuilt and compacted, mesh goes in, and the new slab is poured and finished in the style you have picked: plain grey, exposed aggregate or honed.
Most Parkwood driveways come out and go back in within days, not weeks. You will be walking on the new surface quickly, though we ask you to keep cars off a fresh driveway for about a week while it gains strength.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is patching old concrete ever worth it?
Sometimes, for a single isolated crack on an otherwise sound slab. Once cracking is widespread or slabs have moved at the joints, patches fail quickly and a replacement is the honest recommendation, which is why we look before we quote.
Can we keep using the driveway during the work?
We plan the job so you are without car access for as short a window as possible, and we tell you exactly how long that window is before work starts. Street parking usually covers the pour and early cure days.
Can you lay exposed aggregate over the old driveway?
No, and we would not recommend anyone do it. A decorative topping over failed concrete inherits every crack beneath it. We remove the old slab and pour new, so the finish sits on a base that will actually hold it.
How long before we can park on the new slab?
You can walk on it within a day or two, but keep vehicles off for about seven days. Concrete gains most of its strength in the first week, and parking early is the classic way to crack a brand-new driveway.
What decides the cost of a Parkwood driveway?
Removal of the old concrete, the area being poured, access for the truck, and the finish you choose. Because most jobs here are replacements, the demolition side matters as much as the pour, and we price both from a site visit.
